What I Did Over The Break

2/23/09

Over the break all I did was go outside and play. I also went shopping over the break, but it was still boring. I had a bad break because I didn't do anything only go outside to play and go shopping. I think the break went by very fast. For the break I wish I could have go to a club or restaurant and have fun with my family. I went shopping, I can't do that during school weeks because I don't got time by doing my homework and everything else. Now that im back to school im looking forward most to study more math and get ready for the math test. I missed my friends and my laptop.

Poem of Jim Crow

Jim Crow is a bad law,
Because Blacks dont get to do anything at all.
White People have rights to do anything,
Not like Blacks who get abused and arrested.
In buses Whites sit in front and Blacks in back,
Blacks felt offended except for Whites.
Blacks and Whites go to different schools,
But White command more things them what they do.
If a Black person go to a white school,
The Black person will get murdered and killed.
Growing up by 1950's like Malcolm X was a bad thing,
You would be treated Unequally just like he did.

Jim Crow

2/9/09

I learned about Jim Crow and about what happened by the 1950's. Jim Crow laws are that black and white have to go to different schools, they can't be in the same school. Blacks have to sit in the back of the bus and whites have to sit in the front of the bus. I think they felt non-noticed before that law. I think Malcolm X felt very good because he started to know that blacks weren't scare after Malcolm X gave his speeches. I think white people fought threw Jim Crow laws.

Langston Hughes was the guy who wanted to put black and white together so they wouldn't be enemies. Life started to get a little better because some people started to know it wasn't good what they were doing. The poem I read about today was called "Merry-Go-Round". I think black people got it easier right now than in 1930's because they know everything. Black people now have rights because when Langston Hughes grew up they didn't.
I feel sad because people wasn't never together so much and white people had privileges to do anything and blacks didn't. Langston Hughes fought against Jim Crow laws because he wanted black people to have privileges just like white. Shirley Chisholm fought against Jim Crows laws by giving speeches about trying to protect blacks. Malcolm X did almost the same thing like Shirley Chisholm. Martin Luther King gave a lot more speeches and people started to get used to it and know things about it. If people never spoke against segregation our life would have been ruined and we would have got killed very easily.

Black History- Shirley Chisholm

I learned some things about Shirley that she ranned for president. I watched 2 videos about Shirley speech. I feel happy about Shirley because she was brave enough to talk about black history. Yes I would like to learn more things about Shirley Chisholm.

I think Malcolm X feel very happy about Shirley Chisholm because she spoke very brave just like Malcolm X and she wasn't scared to speak. I would like to learn most about Rosa Parks. I learn some things about Black History of Malcolm X and Shirley Chisholm.

I think blacks were treated a little more respected because she ran for president and was the first African American women who ran for president. I can name 2 women who ran for president and they are Shirley Chisholm and Hilary Clinton. She is important to history because she was brave and talked about lots of things and was the first African American women who ran for president.

Black History- Malcom X

I learn lots of things about Malcolm X and black History. I watched videos about Malcolm X talking about the KKK. I feel Malcolm X wasn't scared of the KKK and he had to make people not be scared of them and fight them. I would like to learn more about Malcolm X and his speeches.

I feel sad because lots of things KKK did to lots of people. I would like to learn more about Martin Luther King, I know a lot of Martin Luther King, but I want to learn more about him. I only know a little about black History.

I never read any poems about written by a Black author and I would like to read some. I never seen any poem written by a Black person and I would like to see that. I really like writing poems, but I like it when it got rhyming in it.

Aim: How do we use spreadsheet to create graphs?

Date: 2/2/09

If you are doing graphs on lose leaf , now you don't have to do it on lose leaf. Now if you have a laptop you can tell your teacher to use "Microsoft Excel". In Microsoft Excel you can do circle graphs , bar graphs, line graphs, and others. First click on the Microsoft Excel then save it as anything you want. When you get there you can do anything. For Example, do your bar graph then highlight it. Click on view, then Toolbars. After clicking on toolbars press Standard, Formatting, then Chart. There they will show you your graph and you can look at it lots of different kind of ways.
Microsoft Excel helped me learn a lot of things about graphs, circle graph, and more. You can even put different colors to your graphs. I made a circle graph and a bar graph when I first used Microsoft Excel. The first day you use Microsoft Excel you can learn lots of math.
